Socially Distant

May 30, 2020  •  7 Comments

Hello and welcome to anyone who comes across this blog.

I never really had time to do a blog, but things have been rapidly changing. I know that back in April 2018, I posted my first blog here. I wanted this to be a place to help anyone who is interested in diving into the world of photography and getting started. I have been home now for about 2 months. I caught up on all the things I was behind with, and I think I am ready to pick this up, again. Right now, I wanted to share some thoughts on current events, and I will post what the blog was originally intended for at a later date.

I only ever go out to get the essentials for my family. I am in the high risk category for COVID-19 along with other members of my family. I take health and safety seriously. Some people have asked me why I am even doing socially distant sessions, and the answer is simple: I care about you and others in the community. Like it or not, this isn't over and really won't be until we get a vaccine. I believe the measures we have taken thus far should remain in effect til at least mid 2021 or even early 2022. I know that is the unpopular stance, but this is my personal opinion, and I stand by it. Trust me. I want everything to go back to as close to normal as possible, but that just isn't the world we live in today. I wear a mask. My business and personal life are deeply affected by all this, but I wear my mask not as a "political statement" or because I am "living in fear"... I wear it because I care about my family, friends, and my community. No matter if I know you or not, it's the decent and right thing to do.

Another major current event is the murder of George Floyd. Yes, I said MURDER. This occurred in Minneapolis on May 25, 2020. This is something that shouldn't be "normal"; unfortunately, this is a common occurrence. I hate that millions of Americans are being treated differently on account of race. This isn't the kind of world I want my child to be growing up in. We CAN and MUST be better. I say NO to RACISM. Freedom and justice for all, PERIOD. If you do not share the same thoughts on this PLEASE LEAVE NOW.

I know this came off a little on the darker side of things, but these are things I wanted to put out there. This is where I personally stand, and this is where we are in our history. Please take a moment to think about this and find ways to be better for community and the future of this place we call home.

Respectfully,

Lex

I’m so proud to be able to call you my nephew. Speak up and advocate for the millions who can’t that don’t have a voice because they are our vulnerable and or to young to stand up and say something. We can’t continue to think this is someone else’s problem. This is true for both situations we are going through. Staying silent is not an option for us and much less of an option for the children that we are raising. Love You!!

❤️ stand strong and do not stray .. people can say what they want but wearing masks is the right thing to do out of respect to yourself and others and many people that are high risk we come in contact with - as far as the murder - you speak the truth - things MUST change - what happened to the equality we all saw after 9/11 where is was person helping person ... it’s sad how much history repeats itself and we never learn

This is wonderful. Thank you for saying something. Most wouldn’t because they would be afraid of looking bad or it being bad for business. Thank you for taking a stand.
